Be Encouraged!

I shared with some Christian brothers and sisters my reticence at asking for prayers and admitting if I'm feeling down or depressed. The enemy uses our emotions to cause us to question the goodness of God (Satan did it from Genesis 3 with Eve " “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?”" Genesis 3:1b), and yet we are afraid to share such feelings because (at part, at least in my case) we feel that it exhibits a lack of faith in God. I received alot of support and prayer from such brothers in Christ. One shared the verses below and another the video, which is one of my favorites! It's Casting Crowns' Praise You In This Storm.

These verses show that according to God in the Scriptures our salvation is secure because of what Jesus did. Our salvation is not based on what we do or do not do after we are saved. We have eternal security by faith in Jesus Christ.

“Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son. Much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.” Romans 5:9-10

“All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.” John 6:47

“And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.” John 10:28

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Eph. 2:8-9

“For the gifts and calling of God are irrevocable.” Romans 11:29

(Salvation is a gift of God according to the previous verse, Eph. 2:8-9) “having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,” 1 Peter 1:23 “then He adds, ‘Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.’ “ Hebrews 10:17

“Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He ever lives to make intercession for them.” Heb. 7:25

“For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens; who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people’s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.” Heb. 7:26-27

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

“He who believes in the Son has everlasting life;…” John 3:36 in part

“Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.” Romans 3:28

“But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.” Romans 4:5

“For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise made of no effect, because the law brings about wrath; for where there is no law there is no transgression. Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed,…” Romans 4:13-16 in part.

Salvation is a promise if we have faith in Jesus. “He (Abraham) did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. And therefore it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Romans 4:20-22

Who performs the promise of salvation? Anytime we trust in what we do or fail to do to get us into heaven we are in unbelief. “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” Romans 8:1

“For if the inheritance is of the law it is no longer of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise.” Galatians 3:18

“But the scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.” Galatians 3:22

“And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.” Colossians 2:13-14

“And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.” Hebrews 10:11-14

“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

“In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.” Ephesians 1:13-14
